A Stitch in Time

Vicky just took a class from The Embellishment Squad at A Stitch in Time Needlework in San Marino, California and shared photos of the shop and class on her blog.

Here's the shop website for those who want to explore a little more but who can't make it to California today to do so.  Have fun exploring!

Totalling Up The Stash

Fans of counted designs are going to go wild over Sara Leigh's revived blog.   Sara Leigh's photography when she ran Scarlet Thread was outstanding, so you know you are going to love the pictures of her Works in Progress (WIPs).  Let's hope Sara Leith will show many of these designs again as she works on them.

If you are new to counted canvaswork, Sara Leigh will introduce you to designers you've never heard of.  Check the "Counted Canvaswork Designers" tab here on Blog to help you discover where to get these wonderful charts.  Some are no longer available and some are class pieces only, but occasionally you can pick up old class projects from the designer.

Schedule that Debbie Stiehler Class Now!

I just heard that Debbie Stiehler is retiring from teaching at the end of 2013!   I love her Imari Collage, so I am sad to hear that I will probably never have the chance to take this class.  But you might be luckier than I am.  Schedule that Debbie Stiehler class now!

To see what we will all be missing, here's Debbie's website.  Hummm....  Wonder if Elizabeth can talk her into an article or two in Needlepoint Now?

Attention Collage Fans

Anyone out there a fan of collage designs?  You know, the ones with multiple blocks of pattern? If you are and your preferred projects are counted canvaswork, then I have a treat for you--I just found that Debbie Stiehler has a website!
http://debbiestiehler.com/home

Debbie is doing a series of Asian-themed collages for her classes.  Click on Current Classes to admire her "Imari" and "Asian" collages.  I think "In the Pumpkin Patch" has been very popular with ANG Seminar attendees also and her various fans were much appreciated when she taught them.

I don't know if Debbie sells charts or kits of discontinued designs but it doesn't hurt to ask.  Your local guild might want to invite Debbie to teach. by the way.  I am hoping she'll come to a shop near me one day....

UPDATE:  Marilyn just let me know Potomac ANG is planning to have Debbie for a workshop  next May. I think Shenandoah Valley ANG may also be having Debbie in to teach during the same trip to Virginia.  If you are a member of either chapter, keep your eyes open!  Thanks, Marilyn.

SOTM 2012 Finished

Liz Morrow has finished her Stitch of the Month project for 2012 from ANG's website. I wasn't wild about the design but Liz has made the most of it. Wait'll see the background she created for it--spectacular!  Click on the tiny photo to embiggen it to enjoy her work.

ANG's Stitch of the Month (SOTM) program has started in 2013 with a Bargello piece from Debbie Stiehler.  Click on January 2013 to get started on this one yourself.

Do you like candy apples?  No?  I think you'll make an exception for this one!

Summer isn't finished stitching her Royal Santa (Amanda Lawford) but she has finished some important sections.  Lovely!

Linda isn't finished with her And More sayings piece, either, but she's chosen a very clever way of embellishing it that I had to share.

Ever wonder how one of those big canvases is built?  A little at a time!
