Breaking News: Mark Craddack Has Died

Last night Nimble Needle Atlanta posted that Mark Craddock, who often taught at the shop, died from an aggressive and fast moving cancer.

The service will be June 9th at the Cathedral of Christ The King in Atlanta.  My condolences to his friends, colleagues and students.

New Product: Phone Card Holders

The Nimble Needle in Atlanta has a shop exclusive - leather phone card holders.  There are matching canvases, too.

Frankly, I have no idea what a phone card is but I imagine credit cards will fit in these as well.  Apparently these have peel off sticky backs so you can stick one to the back of your phone or tablet to keep an ID or credit card with you at all times.

Picking a Finisher

The Facebook page Diane's Stitchin in the Mitten has posted photo albums of finishing done by various folks some who will take finishing directly and some which you have to contact via a shop.  This is helpful so you can see if someone has experience in the type of finishing you want done. The first photo album is work by Angela Shaddon.
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1623244944605504&id=1439608229635844

Here is finishing arranged by Barbara's Needlepoint.  The shop has great finishers on their staff.
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1623521527911179&id=1439608229635844

These designs were finished by folks chosen by Bedecked and Beaddazzled in Baltimore.

These were finished at Chaparral and at Chapel Hill Needlepoint.
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1624146631182002&id=1439608229635844

These were finished at Marlene's.

All of these were finished through shops--Needlepoint.com, Nimble Needle in Atlanta and Peacock Alley.

The Traveling Teacher (Robin King)

You might have noticed Robin King isn't blogging as much as she used to. That's because she is teaching here, there and everywhere! After all, she has to do laundry and pet the cats between trips, which doesn't mean much free time to write blogs. Thankfully Robin's taken time out from her busy schedule to bring us up to date on all the shops she's visited. It's the next best thing to actually being in one of the classes.   First, Needlenook of La Jolla in California--

Then Robin headed to the Nimble Needle in Atlanta.

The Nimble Needle Atlanta Newsletter

Oh, boy! I always look forward to the Nimble Needle's Atlanta e-newsletter. It's full of eye candy (from upcoming classes, past classes and just plain great stitching from customers) and a stitch diagram and lots of things to enjoy like the newest things at the Kirk and Bradley trunk show.

Nimble Needle (Atlanta) Newsletter

Nimble Needle's quarterly newsletter just keeps getting better!   My favorite part is all the fabulous finishing from their talented customers, but you may love the leaf stitch diagram, or the photos of the new Brenda Stofft canvases, or be intrigued by Gingher's Stitch Blade or the new Stitcher's Compact. Have fun browsing all that Needle Bug has to offer.

UPDATE:  My apologies to both Nimble Needle in Atlanta and Needle Bug in Montgomery for getting their shops mixed up when I posted this.  Can you tell my mind is on other things?  I have cataract surgery in a week and it is starting to show despite my attempts to keep my personal life off Blog!

The Nimble Needle Atlanta's May Newsletter

What fun! The Nimble Needle in Atlanta has their May newsletter available and it is full of eye candy! There's a bit about their favorite designer and new book from Market, lovely photos from their IC snowman club for 2014, reports from their recent classes, and some wonderful photographs of their recent finishing.  This is a treat for all.

Reports from Classes and Retreats

Despite all this nasty weather, people have been on the road, going to classes and retreats.  Luckily for us, after they get home, unpack and rest up, they report on the experience.  For those of us whose only travel is to the grocery store, post office, drug store and bank, these are much treasured glimpses of great fun.

Vicky shows off some of the teachers and projects at the annual Blue Bonnet Studio's retreat in Texas.  Good luck with the cast on bullions!
http://mostlyneedlepoint.com/blue-bonnet-needlearts-retreat/

Robin has been teaching at Nimble Needle Atlanta.  Look at all the threads she pulled for each canvas!  There are glimpses of some of the stitches she gave her students, too.    If you want to join in, she lists the class dates at the shop for 2014.

Classes and retreats are delightful but so are the reports. Thanks, Robin and Vicky!

Sorceress for Hire

Nimble Needle in Atlanta and Robin King have teamed up to offer a monthly club over roughly six months stitching Melissa Shirley's Halloween Village.  Robin is stitching the piece and writing up a guide as she works, while the shop will furnish the kits to participants.  There's even going to be a private Facebook group where Robin will post progress photos, videos demonstrating hard areas, and allow participants to help each other and encourage each other.
http://needlepointstudyhall.blogspot.com/2014/02/halloween-village-adventure-with-robin.html

If you ever wanted to take a Robin King class, here's your chance to learn from Robin from your very own stitching nest!  The first kit ships in April.  Here are more details.
