Nashville Market 2013

The TNNA trade show last February is just one of a series held each year. The Nashville show is mostly counted designs, particularly cross stitch, but there are some wonderful counted canvaswork designers who show there.  Quail Run has picked up a lot of goodies for you to count.  There's a new nylon thread, too.  It's called Twinkle.  Anyone seen it?

Counting Under the Christmas Tree

I have heard hints that you can order these from Threadneedle Street in Palm Dessert, California but I don't know that for sure.  Anyone know?  The shop doesn't have an Internet presence but their phone number is 760-340-041.  (I hope that hasn't changed!)

Counted Delights

Scarlet Thread has posted photographs (and a teaser) of new charts they have at the shop.  The new items are from Freda's Fancy Stitching, Brenda Kocher and Nancy's Needle.  The hint is a piece of a new design from Jeff Kulick.  I can't wait to see what he has released!  I saw four new designs from him on display at Woodlawn, one of which got a blue ribbon and another of which won my I'd Take That Home If I Could award.  We'll have to wait for Sara Leigh to post more about Jeff's new chart and for me to get my act together enough to write about Woodlawn.

Remember Stars?

Looking back through Blog's postings, I see I put Stars for the New Millennium away October 26 when I started Luna.  I am home for a few days before another trip so I think I'll pick up where I left off and see if I can get the middle block in the next to last row finished.  There's not enough time to do anything on Luna but I hope I can complete Marilyn Monroe before I am off again.

Counted canvaswork lovers should note that Nancy's Needle has updated their website with the new designs from this fall.  Most of the designs seem to be based on traditional quilt patterns.  Recently I've seen four of the NN designs stitched and they are magnificent. My favorite is a Desert Star in warm pinks and roses with touches of orange sherbet and pale blue, but Evening Star is magnificent in the original colorway.

Gone Shopping

Yesterday I left the chores behind and made the long trek towards civilization in order to visit Needlewoman East's Xmas in July sale.  (It continues through today, by the way, so if you are in the D.C. suburbs, you can participate in the sale.)  Of course I bought things!  You'll notice that my Total Stash Credits dropped by 21 since yesterday.  I didn't count the new tubes of Sundance beads or the lovely dichromatic glass magnet either.  But enough about me.  I took photos of the wonderful things I saw (with the shop owners' permission).

Isn't this lovely?  I was lucky enough to arrive just as the stitcher did to pick it up.

Here she is.  Her grandmother told me she raised two generations of stitchers but I didn't get a photo of all three of them as the middle generation was in the back, picking threads.  You probably can't tell from the photos, even if you click to see large versions, but the tent stitches are perfect on this.  Great job!

Here you see the owner of Needlewoman East hard at work on the phone.  The shop was crowded so I didn't take many photos here.  Most folks were really too busy to be interrupted to pose, tell me their stories and show off their bargains.  I did want you to see the wonderful cat bronze who holds Needlewoman East's cards, though.

My final photo from Needlewoman East is of a finished piece on the wall just behind Liz' head.  This is Two Cabanas, from Nancy's Needle.  It caught my eye and I was told that there is a whole series of Two pieces from Nancy's Needle.  Since I don't highlight many counted canvaswork designs, this is for Blog readers who love charts.  I was told there are a whole series of these and I found many of them on Nordic Needle's website.  There are two lighthouses, two gingerbread houses, two cabins, two barns, and even two haunted houses!  They are all about the same size-- 8 inches long and four high.  It's a charming series called "Small Monthly Quilt Series" and I hope you have fun looking at them here.
