Gay Ann Roger's Summer Sale Starts Tomorrow, June 20

Gay Ann Rogers is having one of her occasional sales through her website starting tomorrow, June 20, at 8 a.m. West Coast Time.  The focus will be on patriotic designs, with both small pieces and her larger sampler honoring Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, friends who worked to bring women the right to vote in the USA.  It's shocking to realize my grandmothers weren't able to vote until they were in their mid- to late thirties!

Taking Advantage of Fyre Werks

If you have ever used Fyre Werks you know it is ultra-sparkly and it starts to separate into its filaments at the drop of a hat. That didn't stop Linda from using them, though. In fact, these two things made Fyre Werks the perfect thread for her Fourth of July firecracker!

This is a David McCaskill design, by the way.  If you are interested in Fyre Werks, here is more information on the colors and finishes available.  The "soft sheen" colors are less sparkly and the "holographic" colors are really really sparkly.  It's a great thread, just not exceptionally easy to work with.

Fourth March, Needlepoint Now and Thread Help

If you are one of the folks who plans to stitch Ashley Dillon's Fourth of July March canvas using Susan Portra's stitch guide which Needlepoint Now magazine is publishing, you'll want to read about the alternate navy threads available for the design.   Vicky DeAngelis who works for the magazine has posted alternatives for the Anchor #12 perle listed in the guide that has been discontinued.

Threads go out of production all the time.  I've had two vanish almost before I had the guides using them written!  Many thanks to NP Now for coming up with Finca #12 perle cotton and a tatting thread, either of which will substitute nicely if your local shop doesn't have the original Anchor cotton perle available still.

By the way, Ashley has a new Valentine's March design which Vicky shows off, just in case you are interested.  Cupid and attendant nymphs, a blue bird, roses and hearts are everywhere!  Here's another look from the Susan Roberts' website, with all the March series shown if you haven't seen them all yet.

Peacock Alley's Display Window

Peacock Alley Needlepoint in Michigan is celebrating the 4th with their June display window.  It is full of patriotic delights and lovely reds, whites and blues.  I asked Sandy what the window contains and she replied:
