Melita's second day class with Deborah Mitek had her practicing ribbon leaves. Then she dodged a parade (this is New Orleans, folks, parades are constant) to get to Expo and shopping!  I should mention that New Orleans is even hotter in July than August.

ANG 2017 Exhibit Winners

Folks are starting to post photographs on Facebook of the ribbon-winning pieces they exhibited at the 2017 ANG Seminar Exhibit which is going on right now.   This is Arlene Cohen's "Spanish Savonnerie," worked on 40 count silk gauze with one ply of DMC cotton floss from a chart by Natalia Frank. It won a President's Choice ribbon, a blue ribbon and a Judge's Choice ribbon.

Constellation

Fans of Gay Ann Rogers' work will be thrilled to get a good look her her Constellation, which was exhibited at the ANG Seminar last fall. You can see a photo in the Jan. 2014 Needle Pointers as that issue features award winners from the Exhibit, but you can't see why Gay Ann named it "Constellation."  For that you need to check her website.

Stitching When You Can't Sleep

Robin King's Imsomnia (Maggie Designs)

This piece is for all the folks who just can't sleep tonight.  It's a Maggie canvas stitched by Robin King, who was instrumental in getting the design put on needlepoint canvas and getting Amy Bunger to do a stitch guide for it.  The whole thing makes me laugh, from the woman who is knitting madly in her search for occupation when she can't sleep to the cats, each of whom wears a sweater and none of whom have the least trouble sleeping whenever/wherever they please.

The Rebecca Wood Halloween canvas of the tug of war in the tomb between the skeleton and the mummy got so much comment that I found the series on Rebecca Wood Designs website.  The series is numbered 023 and starts on page two of the Halloween designs and continues into page three.
