Mermaid Tails Alert

Mermaid lovers will be interested in these mermaid tail needle cases.  The waist area unscrews and the needles are held in the top by a magnet.  (See the video in the Etsy shop listing)

Quite a few Etsy shops carry similar mermaid tail needle minders.

There are several mermaid tail canvases.  This one is from Oasis Needlepoint.

This one is from the Meredith Collection.

Here is Raymond Crawford's mermaid tail.

Patti Mann's is my personal favorite.

Plus Brenda Stofft has a mermaid tail scissors case.

My Personal Favorites from Destination Dallas

"View of St. Andrews" by Otto Agular/Purple Palm

Let me show you my personal favorites from Destination Dallas. First up is this piece from Otto Agular, the new artist represented by Purple Palm Designs.  There are quite a few new pieces from him available to stitch but this one really caught my eye.  You can see all of them on Purple Palm Designs' Facebook page.

Mary Lake-Thompson's Witch on a Bike

I also like the new Mary Lake-Thompson witch on her bicycle with her streaming red hair and the hissing cat in the tote bag up front.  Even the smiling pumpkin riding the rear makes me smile.  Melissa Shirley Designs posted information about this new design from their MLT line on Facebook.

Mary Tussey's "Drink Up Witches!"

What Halloween decor wouldn't be livened up by Mary Tussey's latest?  Giggles are guaranteed!

Elizabeth Turner Collection's Rabbit Portrait

Elizabeth Turner Collection has added a rabbit to their animal portrait line.  It's a real honey, too!

Wreaths must be in these days.  I really like the bunny wreath from Share One's Ideas, too.

Sharon Hendy-Moman's "Breeze Caught Kimono"

I'm a sucker for Asian themes on needlepoint canvas so I really liked Ruth Schmuff's latest artist, Sharon Hendy-Moman.  I particularly like her "The Breeze Caught My Kimono" which you see above.

A Prancing Pink Poodle form Pajamas and Chocolate

Patt of Pajamas and Chocolate tickled my funny bone with this Pink Poodle with Attitude.  LOL

Mindy's "Art Nouveau Tile"

I have always loved Mindy's designs.  Her new "Art Nouveau Tile" design is an instant classic.

Mary Engelbreit's "This Is The Life"

Painted Pony Designs has bought the rights to reproduce some of Mary Engelbreit's designs on needlepoint canvas.  It's hard to pick a favorite but "This Is The Life" is really fun and has the bonus of looking like me when I was ten.

Kimberly's "Little Dancer"
Kimberly Smith has quite a few new canvases out, and once again it is hard to pick a favorite.   I finally settled on the bird and flower piece above but it was a hard choice!

Patti Mann Does Wizard of Oz AND The Mummy

Choosing from Patti Mann's newest was so hard I gave up and picked two ornaments!

Friday Finishing: The Classics

Nobody knows classic designs and classic finishing like Needle Nicely. Their monogram pillow from Patti Mann is lovely now and will be lovely in twenty years, too.  Some things never go out of style.

Enriched Stitch has a little bit of everything to show off.  Many of these items are from their fabulous classes.

Nothing is more classic than a custom needlepoint belt.

Or a basketweave pillow with awesome trim.

Do you like Painted Pony's classic angel designs?  Then you will love their classic finishing, courtesy of Steph.

Susan Portra at Work

Vicky jumped in the car and took a quick trip to Aristeia Needlepoint's retreat at the Ritz Carleton in Laguna Niguel.  She showed off some of the pieces Susan Portra was working on at the retreat, including the great Girls on the Dock piece by Patti Mann and a wonderful gingerbread house from Shelly Tribbey that is good enough to eat.  Susan is currently stitching a Brenda Stofft roll up Santa cone that is going to be spectacular when she finishes it.  (This will be a class she will teach next year.)

The TNNA Show Offerings Start to Leak Out UPDATED

The new designs and products that will be released during TNNA's Winter trade show in California are starting to appear online.  I think this year instead of trying to post multiple listings of the new things I'll do one summary article to make it easier to find things later.  I will put the latest items on top of the list.  To find this article again, type "TNNA Winter 2013" in the search box at the top of the page on the left.  It should come right up.

UPDATES:

Pajamas and Chocolate has updated their website with new hand painted designs, full of color and pattern.  There are photos of their wooden Shaker box and coaster sets, too.

Patti Mann is re-releasing the Russian Nesting Doll Nativity set.  This is a Darcy Predmore design that Patti Mann distributes.   It's a wonderful series of nine canvases:  Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the three Wise Men, the shepherd, a camel and an angel.  The pieces are all roughly  7 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches except for Baby Jesus which is only 3 1/2 by 5 inches.  Each piece is roughly $80.  If you are curious, these and other new pieces should be up on Patti Mann's website by early February.

If you have a Facebook account, keep your eyes open.  Shops and designers will start posting images soon.  Lani Burston Silver (Lani's Needlepoint) is already posting to the Needlepoint Nation group about her new shoe series and SJ Designs is showing off charted Berlin Woolwork pages from her new publication.

You Don't See This Every Day

I don't believe I've ever seen a canvas of a House of Ill Repute before!
http://ridgewoodneedlepoint.blogspot.com/2012/05/any-you-thought-yesterdays-canvas-was.html

There are auctions on eBay right now of a Mr. and Mrs. Santa set being sold separately.  They are each naked except for a strategically placed Santa's hat.  If you are interested, search for Patti Mann Santa Claus.  That should turn up both items.

Yes, there is a needlepoint canvas for every taste, even if you are feeling slightly risque this morning.

Counted Canvaswork and Painted Canvases

This morning I have new eye candy for you. Since the trade show news has been mostly about painted canvases, here is a lovely silk version of a counted piece from Needle Delights.
http://thenimbleneedle.blogspot.com/2011/06/tangerine-twist.html

Carol has a lovely little free ornament for us, straight from Australia.  This will make great Christmas ornaments, a scissors fob or just something pretty to pin on your bulletin board at work.

Ridgewood has been showcasing older designs that are just as wonderful today as they were when they were first released.  Their Famous Women series (from Labors of Love ) can be paired with a matching frame.
http://ridgewoodneedlepoint.blogspot.com/2011/06/famous-women.html

They also have a lovely Gone with the Wind canvas with all the main characters. I don't know who the designer of this classic is, but I bet fans will have great fun stitching it as a momento of a great movie.
http://ridgewoodneedlepoint.blogspot.com/2011/06/gone-with-wind.html

The final touch this morning is 8 blog entries from Pocket Full of Stitches, showing off their current Patti Mann trunk show.  Twenty percent off, folks!
