The Smart Cookie Award for November

A friend of Amanda's stitched table numbers for her sister's wedding.  For those of you not on Facebook, they have a pretty border, the number and the initials of the bride and groom.

They are quite pretty, aren't they?  They are on acrylic stands for the wedding but will be used as coasters at the bride's house after.  Very clever!

The Royal Wedding Stitch Along

The Crewel Work Company is sponsoring a royal wedding stitch along, with videos showing Phillipa's progress. I thought with the wedding coming up on May 19th you'd like to see the videos.

The Wedding Monogram Pillow

I was browsing Little Bird Designs today because I like their style and was hoping they had new designs posted for Dallas already (I love the planned phoenix series!), when I stumbled across this custom wedding monograph pillow designed for newly weds by Michelle, the Little Bird herself.

I think it is beautiful and will be a meaningful gift--and perhaps a family heirloom--for decades to come.

My favorite is this romantic bride and groom dance from Princess and Me.

What canvas makes you hear wedding bells?

UPDATE:  Needlepoint.com is thinking just like me.  They have a Wedding and Baby section on their website now, complete with some wonderful designs.

Pat's Family in Needlepoint

Pat Wilson has assembled a gallery of original pillow designs she has designed and stitched to honor various members of her family. Aren't they great?  There's a wedding pillow and others that are dedicated to the memory of her grandparents.  It's a wonderful stitched family memory album.

The Wedding Cake

Lots of folks stitch ring bearer pillows for weddings, but no one has done anything as spectacular as this wedding cake design!  This is a discontinued canvas from Maggie, by the way.  Many thanks to Vanessa, the goddess owner of Ridgewood, for discovering who painted this beauty so I could credit the designer properly.

The Dress: A History UPDATED AGAIN

Susan talks about her hopes for Kate's wedding dress and gives us glimpses of other royal wedding gowns so that we can see how today's dress follows (or doesn't) the tradition of other British Royal Wedding gowns.
http://plays-with-needles.blogspot.com/2011/04/dear-kate-please-dont-be-too-modern.html

UPDATE:  The Royal Family has posted short videos on YouTube if you missed the first appearance of The Dress.
http://www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel?feature=ticker

By the way, Vicky has done a wonderful summary of how stitchers are celebrating.  Me, I'm going to pull out my fancy scissors with the Diana Blue emery strawberry with a sterling top and the sterling silver frog charm and stitch a little in honor of the Newlyweds.  Good fortune to them.

Last UPDATE:  Susan as usual has the last word about The Dress, Veil and Jewelry.  Thanks very much for putting this all in context, Susan.
http://plays-with-needles.blogspot.com/2011/04/well-done-kate.html

Ok, I lied.  One more UPDATE.

And another, but this one with a video of a historian talking about prior Royal Wedding dresses, is not to be missed.
http://austenonly.com/2011/05/04/a-final-peek-at-the-wedding-dress/

And the final update, a podcast about the creation of the dress with a slide show of different sections.
