Introducing George

Sign of the Arrow's Limited Edition design for 2026 is out and it's "George" --as in George Washington.  I think this is the second year in a row that their limited edition design is only available as a painted canvas, not also as a chart, which is a shame.  There are still counted canvas lovers out there, after all, and having both canvas and chart available is a great way to cater to both types of stitchers.

It looks like you can buy just the canvas, or the canvas and thread kit, and you can add the matching needle minder as an extra this year.

Jennifer Riefenberg's "Heron"

Jan of the Stitch Lady blog has just taken a pilot class from Jennifer Riefenberg.  This class will be offered at ANG's 2026 Seminar and the designer wanted a group of people to test drive the instructions.  Jan volunteered to work "Heron."  She's right--it is beautiful!

The heron also has a lot of compensation.

But it is lovely.

Looks great!

The Woodlawn 2026 Exhibit

Despite the cold and rain, Melita took advantage of a break in the weather to visit the Woodlawn exhibit.  She summarizes what she saw here with an emphasis on counted pieces as that is her thing.

Woodlawn posted the list of award winners on their website.

Many thanks for those of us who can't make it to Alexandria, Virginia this year!  As more folks post about the show, I'll add to this article.

Here is a brief glimpse of the show on Woodlawn Plantation's Instagram.

Woodlawn has posted a video of the 2026 People's Choice award.  It appears to be an embroidery.

Lori won a second place ribbon for this Charley Harper bird beauty.

Breaking News: Hill Top Leather's 2026 Finishing Deadline

If you are planning to send anything to Hill Top Leather for finishing this year, note that their cut off for accepting items is July 31, there is no Christmas deadline, and they are not guaranteeing any delivery will arrive before Christmas.

Like everyone else in the needlepoint business, they have been overwhelmed by the surge in orders.  Right now they are 25 weeks behind.  Small family companies can't keep up with the demand.

Fun with ANG and NJNA

The New Jersey Needle Artists Chapter of ANG ends September 2025 with lots of local and national ANG news, including a video all about the 2026 ANG National Seminar in Denver.  You can see the classes to be offered in this YouTube video.

There's also news of Debbie Rowley's website being hacked, a new silk/wool blend from Tilli Thomas called Bisous, another new Facebook group for needlepointers, a new needlepoint shop in NJ, a new large Mahjong mat with a garden theme from Kate Dickerson, at least four new monthly clubs, plus more!
