A Short Profile of Kam Wenzloff

Those of you who subscribe to Needlepoint Now magazine will have already discovered "Rainbow Ribbons," the lovely counted project that Kam Wenzloff published in the magazine's November-December 2019 issue.  Kam used threads from Colour Complements so the thread manufacturer wanted to show off Kam's work and suggest other overdyed perle cottons you might want to use to personalize this piece for yourself.
https://colourcomplements.com/2019/11/rainbow-ribbons-colour-complements-needlepoint.html

Just click on the Color Complements website to have some fun color shopping.  Just remember you need five skeins of size 5 perle cotton and one skein of size 8, all in the same colors.  Will they be Fall Beauties, Pink/Orange Sherbet, or Teal and Purple?  You choose!
https://colourcomplements.com/hand-dyed-embroidery-threads

If you aren't a subscriber already, you can pick up this issue online until it sells out for $8.50.  Given all the designs and information you get, this is a bargain purchase.

It appears she often uses crewel wool or Paternayan wool on linen and works from photographs.

A Profile of Nan and Some Shop Thoughts

Lynette Designs likes to profile her stitching friends, and this time she talks to Nan Philip about her needlepoint and her personal style.
https://lycettedesigns.com/women-on-point-nan-philip/

I just noticed I missed a blog posting about the new Lynette Designs shop.  It's a peek behind the doors at how a shop owner thinks and what they go through to bring us such wonderful things.  Most days I'm glad I'm not a shop owner but this made me glad I'm not in my twenties, either!  The pressure is immense!

Luv2Stitch Profiles Rhonda

Luv 2 Stitch has been working on their shop website and I noticed they added a profile of their shop manager, Rhonda Pellegrini.  It's a nice way to meet the faces behind the counter.

Have fun exploring their website, particularly if you aren't close enough to San Mateo, California to visit.  I'm enjoying their gallery of finished pieces right now.

Needlepoint Now Profiles The Needlepointer

Recently the editor of Needlepoint Now magazine was in Washington State and visited The Needlepointer in their new location.   It's a great article about the history of the shop and how they got into selling Straw Silk, plus the shop manager Brian Shaw gives us a great way to judge if we are going to run out of thread for a project.  There is a lot more in this issue of the newsletter, but I loved reading about one of my favorite shops.

A Needlepoint Profile of the Authors

Lycette Designs did a fun profile of the authors of Sophistication is Overrated by concentrating on their needlepoint shop background and love of our favorite needle art.  You'll learn their favorite shops, that "belts are men's charm bracelets" and what they binge watch when stitching.  Fun!
http://lycettedesigns.com/women-point-sophistication-overrated/

Since we also learned that their book about entertaining has a chapter on needlepoint, here's a link to learn more and perhaps buy yourself a copy if Santa didn't provide it.

Chuck Pinnell: Leatherwork Divine

Horse Country Chic has been to see Chuck Pinnell recently.  You may have come across mention of his leatherwork in Martha Stewart Living.  His work is amazing.  It is expensive but you'll have a top quality needlepoint belt or purse that will last forever.
http://horsecountrychic.blogspot.com/2016/11/last-week-i-ventured-over-to-crozet.html

I've often thought a briefcase with a needlepoint insert or a wallet with the same would be a present to remember....

Wish they'd posted more photos of Mr. Schmidt's stitching.  It looks fabulous!  (The Ebbets Field piece is by Needlepoint Broad, by the way.)
