I just stumbled across mention of The Gold Work Guild.  Based in England, they have workshops, lots of information about goldwork techniques on their website, and they list exhibitions and events of interest to the student of this technique.  I don't see cyberclasses but you might convince them in this time of pandemic to try one.

Ecclesiastical Needlepoint at Saint Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church

Whether you are Christian or not, I thought you'd enjoy looking at photos and a video about the needlepoint decorations at Saint Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church in Denver. Colorado.  They have a lot of photographs of church events on Facebook but this is the only stitching photo there I could find.

The website has information about St. Clare's Needlepoint Guild which has created the needlepoint decorations for the church.  The church has a Christmas tea in December each year that showcases their unique stitching if you happen to live in the area.

Why You Need to Belong To a Stitching Guild

One of the most common questions I hear on Facebook at the Needlepoint Group is whether there's anyone near (fill in the blank city) who'd like to get together and stitch?  The need to hang out with other stitchers is universal.

The American Needlepoint Guild has chapters all over.  If you aren't close to one, they also have a Cyber Chapter available so you can meet online with other stitchers who can't make it to a local meeting.  (Note that ANG is having trouble with their website so be patient if you don't get answers right away.  Their webmaster is trying to fix the issues ASAP.)

The Embroiderer's Guild of America also has many chapters including an online one.  Although their focus is broader than needlepoint, they have many needlepointers in their ranks.

Both organizations have annual seminars and regional meetings as well as local get-togethers.  Both send out inspirational magazines as part of your dues.  Time to sign up and help spread the word about needlepoint and needlework!

The Loudoun Sampler Guild lives over the mountain from me in the D.C. suburbs, where historical samplers are very popular.   Some of the members are published designers in their own right, so the fact that the mystery band sampler the membership designed in 2014 is now available for sale as a fund-raiser is worthy of note.  The money raised will all go to a fund established in Betty Flemming's honor to help museums acquire and preserve samplers.

A Wonderful Display

Some days I just want to sit and look at lovely finished projects. So this morning I have two photo galleries for you to explore and enjoy. The first is from Amy Bunger's shop. Where to Dispose of Excess Stash

Several folks have asked for information on places to either donate or sell items from your stash you no longer want.

Donations:
ANG's Yahoo Group has contact information for the Ohio Women's Prison and the Pine Ridge Reservation, both of which accept stitching items, in a file labeled "Donation Places" on their Yahoo Group site.  If you don't belong, email me and I'll copy the information for you.

ANG's Auction Chairman will be thrilled to have donations of items that can be auctioned off to support ANG's educational programs.

I know some guilds have White Elephant sales, with donations of unwanted stash being sold to raise funds for local programs.  See if your local chapter has such a program or would be interested in your organizing one.  Some chapters do a yearly sale or exchange instead of a fund raiser.
